Govt probes if Kishor took flight during lockdown

NEW DELHI: The Centre is probing if election strategist Prashant Kishor took a cargo flight from Delhi to Kolkata recently during the ongoing lockdown. Aviation authorities are going through CCTV footages of Delhi and Kolkata airports.
Meanwhile, Kishor has denied taking a flight to Kolkata during the lockdown. “We expect a report of the ongoing probe shortly. The DGCA and airport authorities are examining the issue,” said an aviation ministry official.
Another aviation senior official said: “We have checked with the three cargo operators who flew from Delhi during the last four days and they have all confirmed that he (Kishor) has not flown in their aircraft. We also corroborated with CCTV footage at both the stations (Delhi and Kolkata airports) and as per current information he has not flown on cargo aircraft. No (air) ambulance has operated to these stations during these days and that is also ruled out.”
There have been reports that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had asked Kishor to come to the state and help formulate a strategy to counter BJP’s criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government’s corona management.
